Destroy All Humans

As games go, Destroy All Humans looks totally like the kind of game I would go for.

You play a cute but aggressive alien (they're always good to play!) called Crypto who comes to Earth on a mission to harvest human brains (nice!).  The setting is 50's America, the era of course that brought us all those camp and kitsch sci-fi B movie shockers.

Crypto's arsenal includes anal probes, ion detonators and a disintegrator ray. Using mental powers, it is also possible to disguise yourself as a human by reading their minds. And you can also use telekinetic powers to grab and toss cows, cars, tanks and people.

Action takes place on foot and in your flying saucer. The flying saucer allows you to level city blocks with a powerful death ray.

Now let me ask you - what more could you want from a console game? This sounds like the best game ever! Trouble is, I probably won't get to play it anytime soon as I have a Gamecube and Destroy All Humans is only released on Playstation 2 and X-Box.

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie is a cult manga Japanese anime film of a TV series, (or something). I first heard of Cowboy Bebop a couple of years ago and mentally pencilled it down as one of those films I should make a point of seeing. And the praise from the reviewers over at Amazon make it sound like a must-see.

The Cowboy Bebop universe revolves around the bounty hunter crew of the spaceship Cowboy Bebop in the 2070's. It has been described as being like a cyberpunk noir Western in space. The film deals with the crew being sent to track down and apprehend a maniacal terrorist hell bent on killing the human population on the planet Mars with a mystery virus. Total Recall this isn't.

And guess what? I still haven't seen it!

Still, the Cowboy Bebop franchise is getting a whole new lease of life in the form of a computer game. Cowboy Bebop: The Game will probably be out soon and it adds to my increasing curiosity about the Cowboy Bebop phenomenon.

And those lucky Japanese fans get the choice of no less than three differently packaged versions of the game release, as these pictures show;

What next I wonder? A live action version must surely be under consideration.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect

The BBC has reviewed the excellent new first-person shooter Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

I have the original and never really got on with it, but this one sounds much better. For some odd reason, the first Timesplitters gave me motion sickness!!

Freedom Force vs. The 3rd Reich

The BBC reviewed a game for the PC called Freedom Force vs. The 3rd Reich.
They gave it a pretty good review and judging by the gameplay and screenshots might be one worth buying.
